The International Senefelder Foundation was set up in Offenbach on the Main on November 6th, 1971, to commemorate the 200th birthday of Alois Senefelder, the inventor of lithography. The aim of the foundation is to preserve the memory of this resourceful inventor, to promote young artists and technicians, to collect documents, items and lithographs, as well as to organise and support exhibitions that serve the technique of lithography and its further development. The foundation comprises a board of seven members and an advisory council made up of 25 representatives from the world of business, politics and culture. The foundation has been recognised as non-profit-making organisation since June 2nd, 1997.
